Nestled in the heart of Babre Village, Tal Shahpur, Maharashtra, stands the Old Primitive Tribe Boys & Girls Residential School, a beacon of hope for tribal and indigenous (Adivasi) children in an area where educational opportunities were once scarce. Recently, Neeraj Garg, Regional Multi Business Line Leader based in India at Eurofins, had the privilege of visiting this important institution.

Established in 1999, the school serves a community that is striving to increase its 2% literacy rate. Located just two and a half hours from Mumbai, it caters to families where children are the first generation to attend school and face educational hurdles due to limited resources and facilities.

Neeraj Garg learnt about how the school has transformed its conditions from overcrowded classrooms and dormitories to an environment conducive to learning, thanks to the collaborative efforts and financial support from various companies within the Eurofins network.

With contributions from Eurofins Advinus and Eurofins Analytical Services India Pvt Ltd, the non-profit organisation Bombay Round Table 2 was able to construct a new school building. This modern facility now boasts 12 spacious classrooms and a well-equipped computer lab, facilitating a new era of educational excellence for the almost 250 students.

The impact of this transformation was evident in the recent academic results, with the first group to benefit from the new facilities achieving a remarkable 94% pass rate in their 10th standard examinations in India. These results are a testament to what dedicated students can achieve when provided with the right resources and infrastructure.

As well as providing a conventional education programme, the institution is driving change by fostering career aspirations and community-wide growth. Its mission is to empower and shape a brighter future for tribal and indigenous children, paving the way for a more educated and empowered generation.

These changes are made possible due to the unwavering commitment of Eurofins and its affiliates towards fostering meaningful change and investing in the potential of less advantaged children.
