Fire Safety Testing

Call Us : +91-11- 40522000/41611000

We can proudly say that Spectro has developed fire testing laboratory which is fully equipped with fire testing instruments and the only laboratory in India where we perform test of fire extinguisher, cables, fire doors and many other fire catching goods which needs to be fire tested as per relevant national and international standards like BS 476-22, BS 476 part 20 ASTM E119 and etc.

We can also proudly state that we are the only lab in India which has all these fire testing facility under a single roof to perform these fire testing.

In our lab all fire testing are done by our experienced technician and fire operators who have expertise in fire testing. All our instruments which are used in fire testing are calibrated regularly.

Objective of Fire Resistance Testing

The objective for these new tests is to enhance structural performance so that uncontrolled building fire results in burnout without fractional or complete breakdown. Moreover, these fire measurement technologies would be able to improve the ignition resistant materials, fire growth, and formation of toxic gases, surface flammability that could be life saving and reducing the high cost as well.

Special Fire Testing Facilities

Non Combustibility Testing

This test determines whether or not a material contributes to the fire, subjecting it to a controlled heating and measuring certain parameters such as the initial temperature, maximum and final, the time required to increase the temperature, the total time of combustion of the product (EN ISO 1182) EN ISO 1182, IMO FTPC Part 1, ASTM E 2652.

Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials (ASTM E- 84 by Steiner Tunnel)

This test method applies to the exposed surface which includes ceiling or walls, provided that the materials or the whole assembly, with its own structural quality or the aspect in which is tested and intended to use is able to support itself in position or being supported during the period of test. The method is used to determine the corresponding burning behavior of the material by observing the flame spread along the test specimen. Reports are made for the flame spread and smoke density developed and it is not necessarily a relationship between the two measurements.

Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials (ASTM E 119)

This test is applicable to the assemblies of columns, floors, walls, composite assemblies and the masonry units of the structural materials for buildings. It also includes walls, partitions, columns, girders, beams, slabs, floors, roofs, etc. The structural units that constitute permanent integral parts of a finished building are also included. This Test measures and describes the response of materials, assemblies or products to heat and flame under controlled conditions, however it does not incorporate all the factors required for fire hazard or fire risk assessment of the materials under actual fire conditions.

Fire Tests on Safes (IS: 550 Part-3)

This standard (Part 3) lays down the methods of test for assessing the fire resistance capacity of the safes. The tests which are conducted according to these requirements are intended to demonstrate the performance of equipment during the exposure of fire but are not intended to determine the acceptability for using after fire exposure.

Test of Dry Chemical for Fighting Class B & C Fire

The dry powder is composed of basic material of eutectic chlorides, ammonium phosphate, sodium chloride, diammonium phosphate or a mixture of sodium chloride with ammonium phosphate along with the additives to make it water repellant, free flowing and conforming to several requirements mentioned in the standard.
